The team infiltrated the server farm. Stuart, dressed as a USB cable, tried to flirt with a firewall. Bob accidentally deleted a banking server. And Kevin the Guard just wanted a banana.
He pressed play. Instead of his elegant heist blueprint, the screen showed a grainy, shaky shot of a movie theater. You could see the silhouettes of people's heads bobbing in the foreground. The audio was a muffled mess of crunching popcorn and a child asking, "Mom, why is his nose so pointy?"
But The Cleaner appeared on the screen. He was a silhouette in a hoodie, with a voice like static.
Gru stared at the screen. He saw himself, not as a supervillain, but as a dad with mud on his face, holding up a wobbly toddler.
