Hanzo, the nimble ninja from Kukuroo Mountain, is calm and confident. Gon, small and battered from earlier trials, steps into the makeshift ring without hesitation.
As soon as Netero signals the start, Hanzo vanishes. Before Gon can react, Hanzo reappears behind him, lands a sharp blow to Gon’s neck, and sends him crashing to the floor. The audience of candidates watches grimly.
Gon wakes up in the medical room, arm in a sling, and asks where Killua is. Leorio and Kurapika exchange worried glances. Hunter X Hunter Episode 34
“I give up.”
“Say you lose, or I’ll cut off your arm.” Hanzo, the nimble ninja from Kukuroo Mountain, is
Hanzo grows frustrated. Not because he can’t win — he could kill Gon in seconds — but because Gon’s refusal to surrender is irrational. Hanzo finally draws his sword and holds it to Gon’s throat.
Netero laughs heartily and declares Gon the winner by surrender. Gon, barely standing, looks confused but smiles weakly. Before Gon can react, Hanzo reappears behind him,
And without another word, he walks out of the hall, abandoning the exam, abandoning Gon, abandoning everything — because the assassin’s conditioning has won.
The episode ends with Netero looking at the remaining names on his list: Gon, Leorio, Kurapika, Hanzo, Hisoka, Illumi… and one slot left. He smiles cryptically.
