The "KM" (Kernel Module) is the microchip inside MarsHydro’s dimmable drivers that manages PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals. The KM6 replaces the previous KM5 firmware, addressing long-standing community complaints about low-end dimming flicker and timer resets during power outages. Key Features of the KM6 Update 1. Sub-10% Dimming Stability Previous KM5 users often reported that setting the light below 20% intensity caused visible flickering. The KM6 introduces a linear current smoothing algorithm . Independent tests show that TS-1000 and FC-E3000 units running KM6 maintain stable, flicker-free output down to 5% power—critical for early seedling stages and photoperiod manipulation. 2. Adaptive Thermal Throttling (ATT) One of the most notable changes is the removal of the "hard shut-off" safety feature. Under KM5, if the heat sink exceeded 85°C (185°F), the light would cut power completely—sometimes destroying a crop cycle. KM6 introduces progressive dimming: At 80°C, the light dims to 80%; at 90°C, to 50%; only cutting off at 100°C. This allows the fan or AC to catch up without losing the canopy. 3. Cross-Controller Compatibility KM6 natively supports the GrowHub V3 and third-party 0-10V adapters via a new RJ12 pinout configuration. Users no longer need to buy a proprietary MarsHydro controller to access sunrise/sunset simulation; the light now responds correctly to standard Type B dimming signals from AC Infinity and TrolMaster systems. How to Update (It’s Not an App Download) Crucial Note: Unlike smart bulbs, MarsHydro TS/FC lights do not have WiFi chips. The KM6 update is not downloadable via an app .

February 20, 2026 – MarsHydro has officially rolled out the KM6 firmware update for its popular TS and FC series LED grow lights. While not a new hardware release, the KM6 update represents the most significant overhaul of the light’s onboard control logic since the introduction of the KM5 chip in 2023.
