Korg Pa6x → «Legit»

regedit.exe is a GUI based registry editor. A console based registry editor is reg.exe
Surprisingly, at least to me, regedit.exe is located under %SystemRoot% rather than under %SystemRoot%\System32.
regedit.exe can be used in cmd.exe to import data into the registry or to export portions of the registry.

Korg Pa6x → «Legit»

Balancing power, portability, and next-gen features.

The gigging singer-songwriter or wedding band leader who needs "instant band in a box" quality without hiring three extra musicians. korg pa6x

Having spent the last two weeks with the Pa6X, here’s why this might be the most practical arranger keyboard on the market right now. Let’s get the obvious out of the way: The Pa6X is a 61-key, semi-weighted synth-action keyboard. If you are a pianist who needs weighted keys, look at the Pa5X 88. But for everyone else—the one-man-band, the wedding entertainer, the weekend warrior—this is a back-saver. It weighs just over 10kg (22 lbs). You can carry it in one hand and your speaker in the other. 2. The "Next Generation" Sound Engine Don’t let the "6" in the name fool you. This runs on the same EDS-XP (Enhanced Definition Synthesis-Expanded) engine as its bigger brother. That means you get the new Round-Robin and Articulation features. Piano tones decay naturally, guitar strums don't sound like a machine gun, and saxophones actually breathe. Balancing power, portability, and next-gen features

Here’s a draft for a blog post about the . It’s written for an audience of gigging musicians, arrangers, and home studio producers. Title: Korg Pa6X Review: Is This the Ultimate Pro Arranger for 2026? Let’s get the obvious out of the way:

When Korg announced the Pa5X series, it was a massive leap forward. But not every musician needs a 76-key behemoth for stadium tours or a top-tier studio. Enter the —the leaner, more focused sibling designed for the working musician who wants flagship sound without the weight or the price shock.

Expect to pay around $2,500–$3,000 USD (depending on your region).

Have you played the Pa6X yet? Let me know in the comments if you prefer the 61-key portability or if you need the weighted keys of the 5X.

Showing an (independent) registry hive

The menu File -> Load Hive allows to show an «independent» registry hive. This menu is active when one of the «top level» keys (such as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER) is selected.
This operation only shows the data of the hive, it does not import it.
When such a hive is loaded, its data can be modified normally.
The menu File -> Unload Hive will disassociate the loaded hive from regedit.

Favorites

The menu Favorites allows to add and remove registry paths so that they can quickly be navigated to. Added paths are also shown in this menu.
The favorite paths are stored in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit\Favorites

Opening the registry at a given key

Unfortunately, regedit.exe does not have a command line option to specify a registry key that should be displayed when regedit.exe starts.
However, regedit.exe stores the last visited key in the registry (where else) under the value LastKey in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit.
So, in order to open the registry at a specific key, one needs to first change the value of LastKey and then start regedit.exe.
This idea is implemented in the batch file regat.bat and the PowerShell version regat.ps1. regat stands for registry at.
The same idea is formulated with the Perl module Win32::TieRegistry which can be used to manipulate the registry with Perl: op-reg-at.pl.
Another tool that does the same thing is regjump.exe (by Sysinternals).

Exporting a sub-tree

Choosing *.txt format when exporting a sub tree causes the produced file to reveal the time stamps of the last write time.
