Note: This review focuses on the modding scene for the Saints Row franchise (primarily Saints Row: The Third, Saints Row IV, and the 2022 reboot), as the base games themselves range from having no romance (SR1, SR2, SRTT) to a single, plot-critical romance (SR4) to a single, shallow romance (SR 2022). Surprisingly, the reboot has the most flexible modding framework. Saints Row: Expanded Romance (v2.1) adds gift-giving (flowers, cars), a “jealousy” system if you flirt with another character in earshot, and even a breakup dialogue tree. It’s janky (the gift UI overlaps with the weapon wheel), but it’s the closest the series has to Skyrim marriage. The Bad – The Limits of Modding No New Animations. Characters won’t hug, kiss, or hold hands. At best, they stand facing each other in the “friendly” idle pose while text boxes describe an embrace.
