Serviceable, not spectacular. Historical figures and events add flavor, but dialogue can be repetitive. The Japanese route (added post-launch) is the best-written.

Charming but not cutting-edge. Ships and ports have good detail, but character models are basic. The sea shanties and ambient waves are well done — soundtrack is a highlight. Sailing Era v1.3.0

Sailing Era has steadily improved since launch, and is its most polished, content-rich state yet. If you’ve ever wished for a modern, accessible take on Uncharted Waters or Sid Meier’s Pirates! , this gets very close. Serviceable, not spectacular
